What can I put into self storage?

Goods that are your property. They must be safe, non-hazardous and legal. What you store is at your discretion. You are responsible for ensuring that the unit is suitable for the storage of your goods.

What can’t I put into self storage?

You cannot store any goods that are:
1. Food or perishable goods, unless securely packed so that they are protected from and do not attract vermin.
2. Living creatures.
3. Combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as gas, paint, petrol, oil, or cleaning solvents.
4. Compressed gases.
5. Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents.
6. Toxic waste, asbestos, or other materials of a potentially dangerous nature.
7. Items which emit fumes, smell or odour.
8. Firearms, explosives, weapons, or ammunition.
9. Illegal substances or items or goods illegally obtained.
We reserve the right to refuse any Goods which in our opinion are unsafe, hazardous or illegal or may be a nuisance to us or other unit users.

What is the minimum booking?

We don’t impose a minimum stay all storage units are rented on a monthly rolling contract.

Can I use the unit as an office, accommodation or workshop?

No, the Unit is for storage only. The storage unit cannot be used as offices or living accommodation or as a home or business address or workshop. You must not spray paint or do any mechanical work of any kind in the unit. No noise is to be audible or vibration to be felt outside the unit.

Can I put shelves up in the unit?

Free-standing shelving is allowed. But do not attach anything to the internal or external surfaces of the unit or make any alteration to the Unit. If you cause any damage to the unit you must restore it to its original state or reimburse the costs of us making necessary repairs.

Do I need to insure my goods?

Yes. Storage of your goods in the unit is at your sole risk. Insure your Goods against all normal perils under a valid contract of insurance with a reputable insurance company for their full replacement value. Your home contents insurance may provide the cover you need to store goods away from your home – please check with your insurer first.

Can I upgrade/downgrade to a different size storage unit?

Yes. If we have a suitable alternative unit available.

Can I use cash or cheques for payment?

No, we do not accept cash or cheque payments.

How often can I access my unit?

You can access your room as frequently as you like during opening hours.

Do I have to sign an agreement?

Yes. By paying for our self storage service, you agree to the Terms & Conditions. Please review the Terms & conditions before you enter into service with Broadland Self Storage.
